Merino wool is a special form of virgin wool and comes from the merino sheep, which is primarily native to New Zealand, Australia, Argentina and South Africa. The term 'virgin wool' generally means any type of wool from sheep. The fibers are very soft, strongly crimped, elastic and scaly. Therefore, merino wool has numerous advantages:
- It does not scratch because the fibers are half as thick as those of ordinary virgin wool
